Established in 2006 by long-time member Virginia Peterson, who was the oldest Girl Scout in the state of New Hampshire upon her death in 2019, the Girl Scout Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual Girl Scout or a Girl Scout Troop in the Contoocook Valley Service Unit. Applicants are evaluated based on their commitment to Girl Scout ideals and their proposal for the intended use of the funds, which must be used for a Girl Scout camp or Girl Scout sponsored event.

*The Scout must be registered with the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains and be part of a troop in the ConVal school district towns. Applications are accepted in May each year.
